With the NFL season winding down, the pressure is on as teams vie to make the postseason, snagging bragging rights for fans and possibly keeping some coaches in their jobs.
On Sunday, the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals all clinched American Football Conference (AFC) division titles. It marked the fifth consecutive AFC East title for Tom Brady’s Patriots, the Associated Press notes.
A win by Kansas City Chiefs gave the team a AFC wild-card spot, leaving the Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins all looking to claim the remaining AFC wild-card slot. Of the three teams, the Dolphins have better odds, facing the hapless New York Jets at home next week.
The Philadelphia Eagles plastered the Chicago Bears on Sunday, running up a 43-point margin of victory. That leaves the Bears facing a showdown with Green Bay next weekend. Whoever emerges victorious from that game claims the NFC North title. The NFC East title will be decided by next Sunday’s battle between the Dallas Cowboys and the Eagles.
The San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers all remain in the hunt for NFC wild card spots.
