Software giant Microsoft (MSFT) is finally getting some good news about its Microsoft Surface tablets,
Mashable conducted checks at brick-and-mortar Best Buy (BBY) locations across the country to see how Microsoft Surface tablets were faring at physical retail locations. All locations reported that they no longer had any Microsoft Surface tablets in stock. BBY’s online storefront also lists the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 as sold out. A store representative in New York City said that the Microsoft Surface Tablets were “extremely popular” with consumers.
Best Buy isn’t then only retailer that has sold out of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets. Walmart’s (WMT) online store also lists Microsoft Surface tablets as unavailable due to depleted stocks.
The latest sales data stands in contrast to reports of weak sales for Microsoft Surface tablets earlier this year. MSFT stock fell sharply earlier this year after the company took a $900 million writedown on unsold inventories of Microsoft Surface tablets.
Microsoft released the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets in October.
MSFT stock moved modestly higher in Monday morning trading.
