Yahoo (YHOO) CEO Marissa Mayer is looking to add Imgur to her list of startup acquisitions since taking over in July 2012.
Business Insider reports that Yahoo wants to buy with the photo-sharing site that many Reddit users have fallen in love with. Imgur is one of the most successful startups in recent years and it now has over 100 million people using its services to share pictures in a simple and convenient way.
Ohio University student Alan Schaaf created Imgur for the Reddit community because of how complicated it was to share photos through the website. He said that he “got fed up with all the other image hosts out there so [he] made [his] own. It doesn’t force you to compress your images, and it has neat things like crop, resize, rotate, and compression from 10-100. It’s my gift to you.”
It would be another success if Yahoo manages to acquire Imgur but doing so could come at a steep price considering the startups success.
