Return Policy Ratings: Top 3 Best & Worst Retailers for Returns

With Christmas just a couple of days away it’s a good idea to know which stores have the best and worst return policy ratings. GOBankingRates.com[1] took it upon itself to determine which stores have the best and worst return policies.

Here are the stores with the worst return policies.

1. Sears (SHLD[2]) – The store uses a return policy that requires the original packaging or packaging receipt. The policy also only last for a maximum of 90 days.
2. Best Buy (BBY[3]) – Best Buy bases its return times off of customer spending. A customer must spend at least $1,500 a year to be able to return a product 30 days after purchase.
3. American Apparel – Customers can’t return items to American Apparel stores and must instead send them through mail.

Here are the stores with the best return policies.

1. Costco Wholesale (COST[4]) – Costco doesn’t have a time limit on its return policy and returns are given in the form of cash or check.
2. Nordstrom (JWN[5]) – Nordstrom doesn’t have a formal return policy, but instead handles returns on a case to case basis. The retailer also has no time limit on returns.
3. Zappos – Zappos allows customers to return products up to one year after they have been purchased. Also, there are no shipping fees when returning merchandise.
