Rosetta Stone Buys Maker of Popular Fit Brains Trainer App

The deal is expected to close next month


On Thursday, language learning software developer Rosetta Stone (RST) said that it has purchased a brain-training application maker.

Rosetta Stone will pay $12 million to buy Vivity Labs, which produces Fit Brains applications. Its Fit Brains Trainer app has been downloaded nearly 5 million times over the last year. The all-cash deal is expected to be completed in January.

Adding Vivity Labs is anticipated to boost Rosetta Stone’s bookings between $3 million and $5 million during 2014. Rosetta Stone also forecast a boosted to its adjusted operating EBITDA of between $1 million and $2 million during the year.

Both Vivity and Rosetta Stone mobile applications can be downloaded though Apple’s (AAPL) App Store, Amazon’s (AMZN) app store, and Google (GOOG) Play.

Shares of Rosetta Stone fell modestly in Thursday morning trading.
