A 110-inch Samsung (SSNLF) TV that cost $150,000 went on sale in South Korea on Monday.
The 110-inch Samsung TV, which is the largest offered by the company, is an ultra HD TV that has four times the resolution of normal HD TVs. Demand for Ultra HD TVs is expected to rise in the next few years and prices for them are set to drop. Sales of ultra HD TVs are expected to increase from 1.3 million in 2013 to 23 million in 2017. 10 orders for the huge Samsung TVs have already been filled. The new TV marks a shift as manufacturers move away from OLED TVs, reports the Associated Press.
The 110-inch Samsung TV was first showed off at CES 2013 in January, but it wasn’t available for purchase. Samsung isn’t looking to sell the giant TVs to the average individual, and is instead looking for buyers from government agencies and large companies, Trusted Reviews notes.
