Consumers can expect to see a lot more Taco Bell locations over the next decade.
The popular Yum! Brands (YUM) restaurant chain plans to open 2,000 new locations by 2023, boosting its number of outlets from more than 5,700 currently, to 8,000. To support the expansion, Taco Bell is moving to broaden its franchise base to include more women and minority owners, Restaurant News notes.
A company official notes that Taco Bell is now actively recruiting new franchisees, rather than waiting for candidates to contact the chain.
The company says it needs “new blood” amongst its franchisees in order to meet its expansion target.
Taco Bell has seen sales jump with the introduction of new products like the Doritos Locos Tacos.
Shares of Yum! Brands rose modestly in Monday morning trading.
