daily apple rumors AAPL[1]Here are your Apple rumors[2] and AAPL news items for today:

Dominant: Last month, Apple’s (AAPL[3]) new flagship iPhone was the best selling smartphone at the four largest U.S. wireless carriers[4], AppleInsider notes. The report comes from Canaccord Genuity, which found that the iPhone 5s outsold all smartphone rivals at AT&T (T[5]), Verizon (VZ[6]), Sprint (S[7]) and T-Mobile (TMUS[8]) in November. That marked the third straight month that the high-end handset has been the best-selling smartphone at the four carriers. The lower-priced iPhone 5c remained the third best-selling smartphones at all four carriers during the month, eclipsed only by Samsung’s Galaxy S4. Apple continues to be the top smartphone manufacturer in the U.S. market, followed by Samsung. The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were launched in September. The iPhone 5s initially faced significant supply constraints, but inventories of the handset have recently improved as Apple’s supply chain partners are reportedly working overtime to produce large volumes of the handset.

New Options: Apple has increased the range of streaming channels[9] available through its Apple TV set top box, MacRumors notes. Among the new additions are Bloomberg’s financial channel, Crackle, Watch ABC and KORTV, a Korean news source. The new channels come after a wave of recent additions over the past several months, including Disney’s (DIS[10]) Disney Junior, Major Leage Soccer, Vevo, Smithsonian, HBO GO and WatchESPN.

Win: Apple has scored a legal victory against rival Samsung on the South Korean electronics giant’s home turf[11], the New York Times notes. A South Korean court has dismissed a lawsuit in which Samsung attempted to ban the sale of some iPhones and iPads over alleged mobile messaging patent infringement. The Seoul Central District Court ruled that Apple had not violated the patents named in the lawsuit. Samsung had requested that the court block the sale of some older iPhone and iPad models and had demanded $95,000 in damages. In a statement, Apple praised the court for “standing up for real innovation and rejecting Samsung’s ridiculous claims.” Apple recently won $290 million in additional damages from a California jury on top of $600 million in earlier damages for patent infringement by Samsung, which will likely appeal the awards. The two companies have battled over alleged patent violations in courts around the world.
