Tippi Hedren is perhaps best-known as the star of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. However, the actress has been making headlines recently for a legal battle related to an avian-related injury on the set of a TV show.
Hedren was awarded $1.5 million in damages by a court seven years after suffering a freak accident during the filming of Fashion House. A gallon of water fell on the Birds actress and hit her at about 25 miles per hour, bringing back a series of crippling headaches that Tippi Hedren had suffered in the 1990s.
The irony behind it all is the fact that the bizarre accident might have been caused by a bird. The water had “accumulated on a plastic tarp under the sound stage’s plywood roof, possibly because a bird’s nest was blocking a condensation tube in the air conditioning system.”
Tippi Hedren underwent spinal fusion surgery about two months before the accident to get rid of the aforementioned headaches.
