Toyota, BMW to Team Up on Sports Car

The first sports car made by the two companies is expected to cost over $300,000


Toyota Motors (TM) and BMW, announced on Monday, that they will team up to create sports cars.

toyota-bmwThe two companies have already teamed up to help each other with lithium-air batteries and lightweight technology. The team up will result in both Toyota and BMW creating a sports car that represents its brand. No information regarding the sports cars that will be made by Toyota and BMW has been announced. The companies also announced that they may work together to create mid-sized sports vehicles in the future, reports Reuters.

According to sources familiar with the team up, the first sports car to be made by Toyota and BMW is expected to cost over $300,000. The sports car is expected to be a high-performance hybrid that will likely use a hybrid system from Toyota and BMW’s 4.4-liter gas engine, Inautonews notes.

Toyota also recently announced that it will use a BMW’s 1.6-liter diesel engine in its Verso.
