Yahoo and NBC began partnering on sports coverage in December 2012, as part of an effort by Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer to boost the Internet pioneer’s visibility as a media platform.

NBC will also incorporate Yahoo’s online media platforms — Flickr, Tumblr and Yahoo Search — into 2014 Winter Olympics TV coverage.
