American Apparel (APP) is turning heads (literally) with its new mannequins that have a little more hair than your average mannequin.
The apparel store’s new mannequins have a full-on bush of visible pubic hair in anticipation of Valentine’s Day. While some retailers promote flowers and jewelry in the romantic holiday, American Apparel wants to bring something different to February 14.
District Visual Manager Dee Myles talked about American Apparel’s goal with the mannequins. She said that they “bring rawness and newness to a holiday thought of as a romantic Hallmark holiday. . . by exploiting the lust of Valentine’s Day,”
Myles added that it’s important to have conversations about what we consider to be beautiful and sexy with the full-bushed mannequins.
