goog-stock-google-deepmind[3]Google didn’t announce how much it purchased the company for, but reports claim that it was around $400 million. Google’s acquisition of DeepMind puts another robotics company under its belt. The company purchased eight robotic companies during 2013. At the request of the startup, Google set up an ethics board that will work to prevent any type of abuse of the technology, reports The Washington Post.

DeepMind’s artificial intelligence technology may be used by Google to better the technology behind its driverless cars and translation services.

DeepMind’s website[4] describes it as “a cutting edge artificial intelligence company. We combine the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms.”
