Quentin Tarantino is suing Gawker Media over the leaked script of his movie, The Hateful Eight.
Quentin Tarantino’s script for The Hateful Eight was leaked last week. After the leak, Tatantino annouced that he wouldn’t be making it into a movie, and that he would instead publish the script. Following this announcement, Gawker’s Defamed posted a link to download the full script on its website, reports The Los Angeles Times.
According to the L.A. Times, the lawsuit reads as follows.
Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people’s rights to make a buck. This time they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally.
Gawker has denied that it leaked Quentin Tarantino’s script and says that it only reported on a site that had put the full script up. However, several legal experts told Fox News that Gawker is in the wrong and that Tarantino is likely to win the lawsuit.
