R.I.P. Colonel Meow: World’s Angriest Cat Has Died

Colonel Meow passed away on Wednesday after first falling ill in November.

Colonel Meow is a cat celebrity that rose to fame due to his stern, serious and angry appearance. The cat had his own YouTube channel and over 350,000 followers on Facebook (FB). Colonel Meow’s followers were jokingly dubbed “minions” and his owner, Anne Marie Avey, was nicknamed “Slave Beast.” The cat also holds the Guinness World Record for longest fur, measuring in at nine inches, reports The New York Daily News.

The cause of Colonel Meow’s death has yet to be announced. When the feline fell ill, it was revealed that he would have to undergo expensive procedures. Fans of the Colonel responded to the news with kind messages and pulled together to donate over $20,000 for the procedures, The New York Daily News notes.

Avery adopted the “World’s Angriest Cat” after she found him sitting on the side of the road in Seattle, Wash. She said that Colonel Meow gave her much amusement with his stern look and that she decided to share that with everyone, reports the International Business Times.
