The flight took off from Chicago’s Midway International Airport and was suppose to land at Branson Airport in Missouri. However, the plane instead landed at M. Graham Clark Downtown Airport, which is seven miles away from Branson Airport. The M. Graham Clark Downtown Airport isn’t meant to handle large planes, and the Southwest flight landed with only 300 feet of runway remaining, reports CNN.
“It was very shocking when we exited the plane and saw the actual runway and how close we were to the edge of the runway,” Hunter Poole, a passenger of the Southwest flight, told ABC News.
No one was injured during the flight, but passengers had to wait two hours to get off the plane. If the pilot of the flight wouldn’t have applied the brakes as hard as he did, the plane could have went off the runway and down onto U.S. Highway 65. The incident is currently being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, CNN notes.
