Microsoft (MSFT[1]) is losing the console battle but the company is looking to counteract this by improving Xbox One graphics.

Xbox One[2]Industry insider Pete Dodd tweeted[3] that Microsoft will free 8% of the GPU to allow developers to use more power on graphics. The company will have to reduce the processing power of the Kinect camera in order to improve the console’s visuals.

The Kinect camera currently uses 10% of the console’s total GPU horsepower with 8% reserved for Kinect video and 2% for voice. Dodd said that the 8% used for video will be freed up to developers while the 2% used for voice will remain.

MSFT stock is down 1.4% Monday.
