AT&T Family Plan Gets a Price Cut

It will cost less to add more phones to the plans

AT&TWith competition among wireless carriers heating up, AT&T (T) is trimming the price of its AT&T Family Plans.

On Sunday, the nation’s second-largest wireless carrier introduced new versions of its AT&T Family Plan that allow customers to add new lines for just $15. Under the AT&T Family Plan, customers pay $100 monthly for unlimited voice calls and text messages, plus 10GB of wireless data. The price cuts mean that a family of four will see their monthly bill fall from $200 to $160, the Associated Press notes.

The new AT&T Family Plan will save subscribers at least $10 per smartphone included under the plan. AT&T is also hoping to prompt AT&T Family Plan customers to upgraded to plans with higher data usage caps, which could ultimately generate more revenue for the carrier.

In December, AT&T revealed discounts for some mobile data plans designed to compete with new wireless data plans from T-Mobile (TMUS).

Investors were not impressed with AT&T’s latest move. T stock fell about 2% in Monday morning trading.
