Worried about your lack of facial hair? Then a beard transplant may be just what you need.
Beard transplants are the newest hipster trend, and it’s starting to see significant growth. The procedure works much like a normal hair transplant, expect that the hair is put on the face instead of the top of the head. The procedure can be painful due to how sensitive the face is, and according to Today, it can cost up to $7,000.
One New York doctor claims that the trend is growing and that he performs around six beard transplants per month. His most popular patients are Hasidic Jews, other men who have trouble growing facial hair and transgender patients transitioning from female to male.
A beard transplant can take anywhere from two to five hours and can require as many as 2,400 hair grafts for a full beard. Patients normally only need one procedure to complete their beards, but occasionally a second grafting procedure is need for full, thick beards.
