Cabela’s (CAB) owner and co-founder Richard N. Cabela died at age 77 on Sunday, according to a statement by his company.
The outdoor-gear retailer is mourning the loss of the hunter and gun advocate that started the company over 50 years ago. Richard N. Cabela’s passing leaves behind his wife, their nine children and their families.
Cabela’s has now evolved to a chain with 50 stores in the U.S. and Canada that makes a lot of its revenue from firearms and ammunitions. In 2013, the chain made about a fifth of its $3.6 billion in sales through guns and ammo.
CAB stock is down in early trading Tuesday.
