Chevron (CVX[1]) has come under fire after a natural gas well exploded and killed a worker in Pennsylvania.

Chevron[2]The oil company has apologized[3] for the incident by giving out 100 gift certificates for free pizza and soft drinks for those in the area. The Chevron explosion created a fire that took place in Greene County and started February 11.

The fire burned for four days and it killed a worker, injured another and continues to emit gas and heat into the atmosphere. Area residents are fuming over Chevron’s apology, saying that they find the company’s attempt to make amends to be insulting.

The company said that it is working around the clock to shut down the well and solve the situation.

CVX stock is up over 1.6% Wednesday.
