daily apple rumors AAPL[1]Here are your Apple rumors[2] and AAPL news items for today:

Improved: When Apple (AAPL[3]) unveils its next-generation flagship iPhone, it will leverage new technology to significantly advance the handset’s touchscreen[4], Forbes predicts. According to Haydn Shaughnessy, Apple will use Quantum Dot technology from Nanosys in the iPhone 6’s display. However, the iPhone 6 screens will be able to display a wider array of colors than found on Amazon’s (AMZN[5]) Kindle Fire HDX7, which also uses a Quantum Dot display. Filings with the U.S. patent office reveal that Apple has been developing its own take on Quantum Dot technology for more than a year. Recent rumors indicate that Apple will release two versions of the iPhone 6, one with a 4.7-inch screen and a larger model with a 5.5-inch screen. Though some reports have suggested a June launch for the next-generation iPhone, most analysts consider a September launch more likely.

Buy: Apple has acquired[6] ad management company Burstly, TechCrunch reports. Burstly produces a mobile app testing platform called TestFlight as well as SkyRocket, in-app ad management software. Last week, TestFlight said it would end support for Google’s (GOOG[7]) Android platform on Mar. 21, and was scrapping its SDK. Burstly purchased TestFlight in 2011. TechCrunch says that Burstly’s development team is already working at Apple. The iPhone-maker has purchased a number of other technology firms over the past year, including Locationary and Topsy.

More Litigation: A patent battle over its voice-assistant Siri has led Apple to sue the Chinese government[8], the AFP notes. China’s Xinhua news agency says that Apple is suing both Zhizhen Network Technology and China’s State Intellectual Property Office. Zhizhen had patented software similar to Siri in 2004, prompting Apple to ask the State Intellectual Property Office to declare the patent invalid. The agency rejected Apple’s request. Apple is taking the case to the Beijing Number One Intermediate People’s Court. Zhizhen sued Apple for copying its “Xiao i Robot” software last year, but a Shanghai court has not ruled on the matter yet.
