Amazon (AMZN) might reveal its set-top box in a New York event next month.
The company has sent invites for an April 2 event in the Big Apple that will take place at 11:00 EST. Many believe that Amazon will reveal the design and operations of a rumored set-top box that the online retailer has been working on for a while.
The device would be similar to the Google Chromecast (GOOG) and Apple TV (AAPL) but with a few differences. Rumors say that the set-top box will run a version of Android similar to Amazon’s Kindle tablets.
The TV gadget would benefit from the company’s Amazon Instant Video service which offers some free movies and TV shows to Prime members. Some also believe that the set-top box will have games.
AMZN stock is down about 0.9% Thursday.
