Basic materials stocks rose 0.7% on Wall Street today.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.5%, the Nasdaq was up 0.2% and the S&P 500 climbed 0.5%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Novagold Resources Inc (NG[1]): NG stock is up 3.3% today.
- Stillwater Mining Company (SWC[2]): SWC stock is up 3.0% today.
- Iamgold Corp (IAG[3]): IAG stock is up 2.8% today.
- Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW[4]): CLW stock is up 2.2% today.
- Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM[5]): AEM stock is up 2.1% today.
- Teck Resources Ltd (TCK[6]): TCK stock is up 2.0% today.
- Kronos Worldwide Inc (KRO[7]): KRO stock is up 2.0% today.
- Meadwestvaco Corp (MWV[8]): MWV stock is up 1.9% today.
- Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW[9]): SLW stock is up 1.9% today.
- Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd (HMY[10]): HMY stock is up 1.9% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Worthington Industries (WOR[11]): WOR stock is down 2.6%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Sun Hydraulics Corp (SNHY[12]): SNHY stock is down 2.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Balchem Corp (BCPC[13]): BCPC stock is down 1.3%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Newmarket Corp (NEU[14]): NEU stock is down 1.1% today.
- Raven Industries (RAVN[15]): RAVN stock is down 1.0% today.
- FMC Corp (FMC[16]): FMC stock is down 0.9% today.
- Kaman Corp (KAMN[17]): KAMN stock is down 0.9% today.
- RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL[18]): ROLL stock is down 0.9% today.
