The announcement of the two new Pixar movies was made by Disney CEO Bob Iger at the company’s shareholders’ meeting in Portland, Ore. Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the original Incredibles, is currently working on a story for The Incredibles 2. No details regarding the story of The Incredibles sequel or Cars 3 has been released, reports International Business Times.
While the announcement of more Pixar projects is welcome, it will be a while before either of them makes it to theaters. Pixar is still working on other films, including The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out and Finding Dory. The lineup of upcoming Pixar films means that The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 won’t make it to theaters until after 2015, International Business Times notes.
“I have some ideas and if I ever get it all together into a story that is at least as good as the one we did, I’d be happy to return to that world” Bird told Movies.com in a 2011 interview regarding an Incredibles sequel. “I love working with Pixar.”
