Consumer Reports: Wegmans Is Best Supermarket in U.S.
Over 27,000 shoppers rated 55 U.S. supermarkets
A survey conducted by Consumer Reports shows that Wegmans is the best supermarket chain in the U.S.
The website surveyed 27,208 readers who rated 55 supermarket chains. The supermarkets were rated on a 1 to 100 scale which looked at service, cleanliness, perishable and prices.
Wegmans was voted as the top supermarket in the country, earning a score of 88. Voters said that the chain offers better quality meat and produce and a cleaner shopping environment.
Wegmans was followed closely by Trader Joe’s that had an 87 with Whole Foods (WFM) and Costco (COST) also earning high scores.
Walmart (WMT) may be the largest grocer in the U.S. but the chain landed at the bottom of the ratings. Many said that the retailer doesn’t have enough open checkouts and its aisles are often congested.
