Last night’s episode of Cougar Town featured product placement like never before.
The online version of Cougar Town featured product placement by Target (TGT) that allowed viewers to click on items in the video if they wanted to buy them. Items that were available for purchase were highlighted by flashing red crosses during the show. After clicking on a red cross, viewers were taken to Target’s online store to purchase the item, reports the Consumerist.
Items available for purchase on last night’s episode of Cougar Town were part of Target’s new Nate Berkus line. The prices of products shown during the episode range from $10 to $65. The episode with the Target ads will remain online until April 15, the Consumerist notes.
“It’s a combination of being a product integration that’s really integrated into the story line of the script, being on a major network, and with a unique shopping experience,” Rick Gomez, Target’s senior vice president of marketing, told The New York Times. “And that’s something we’ve never done before.”
TGT stock was up slightly as of Wednesday morning.
