The Boy Scouts have apparently lost another major corporate supporter.
Over the weekend, an Orlando, Florida-based Boy Scout Council said that Disney (DIS) had informed local Boy Scout troops that it will no longer contribute to them due to the organization’s continuing ban on gay adult leaders. Disney has made contributions to specific Boy Scout troops, but has not previously made direct donations to the Boy Scouts national organization, the Washington Post notes.
According to the message sent by the Florida scout leader, Disney will end donations to local Boy Scout troops starting in 2015.
A spokesperson for the Boy Scouts said the organization was “disappointed” by the Disney decision.
Last year, the Boy Scouts overturned a long-standing policy against openly gay Boy Scouts, but retained a prohibition on gay adults in the organization.
Disney stock slid modestly in Monday morning trading. DIS stock has gained more than 40% over the past 12 months.
