Josh Elliott to Leave ABC’s GMA for NBC Sports

Elliott left over a pay disagreement

Josh Elliott has left his role as a news anchor on ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) for a position with Comcast’s (CMCSA) NBC Sports.

According to The Wire, Elliot was seeking a $10 million salary from ABC, but was only offered a $4 million to $5 million salary. While this is still a better offer than his current salary of $800,000, Elliot decided it was time to move on.

“He let us know last night, and, Josh, it has been a great run with you here on GMA,” George Stephanopoulos, a GMA co-anchor, said on Monday’s episode of GMA. “We’re very happy you’re going to be pursuing your passion.”

Josh Elliott’s new role with NBC Sports hasn’t been officially announced, but it will include covering major sporting events, such as the Olympics, The Wire notes.
