Participating McDonald’s restaurant’s nationwide will start giving customers a small McCafe coffee between Mar. 31 and Apr. 13. McDonald’s will distribute the free coffee during its breakfast menu hours, the Chicago Tribune notes.
In addition to the free coffee at McDonald’s locations, the iconic burger chain will distribute free coffee to commuters at major mass transit locations. In mid-April, it will launch a social media prize campaign on Twitter (TWTR).
McDonald’s move follows the release of TV spots by Yum! Brands (YUM) Taco Bell chain, which feature people named Ronald McDonald saying they love Taco Bell’s new breakfast menu items.
MCD stock rose slightly in Friday morning trading. MCD stock has slid more than 3% over the past 12 months.
