On Tuesday, a fresh round of speculation emerged regarding the future career plans of Facebook (FB) COO Sheryl Sandberg.
According to the New York Post, unnamed sources said that Sheryl Sandberg was in the running to replace Disney (DIS) CEO Bob Iger, who is scheduled to step down in 2016. The report indicated that Sheryl Sandberg has discussed her interest in becoming the next Disney CEO. Sheryl Sandberg is currently a member of Disney’s board of directors.
Though company insiders CFO James Rasulo and theme parks head Thomas Staggs are commonly thought to be the top contenders to become the next Disney CEO, at least one source told the Post that there is some pressure inside Disney to look outside the company.
However, another unnamed Sheryl Sandberg-connected source tells Business Insider that the Post’s account is “not true.”
Earlier this month, conflicting sources stoked and dismissed rumors that Sheryl Sandberg is considering a run for one of California’s U.S. Senate seats.
Facebook shares rose slightly in Wednesday morning trading, while Disney shares dipped.
