Some Walmart (WMT) shoppers can now take advantage of an online feature that permits them to compare Walmart prices against those of its competitors.
The nation’s largest retailer introduced the “Savings Catcher” on its online store in selected markets late last month. Online Walmart shoppers in seven large U.S. metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Dallas and San Diego, can use the feature to view the price of 80,000 products sold at WMT and prices for the same items at rival stores, the Associated Press notes.
Walmart invited some customers to test the feature in four markets last year. The “Savings Catcher” feature emerged from focus group discussions.
The company did not disclose a timetable for the nationwide rollout of the “Savings Catcher” feature.
WMT stock climbed modestly in Monday morning trading. WMT stock has been flat over the past year.
