Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.4%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average pushed 0.4% higher, the Nasdaq was up 0.9% and the S&P 500 rose 0.4%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Royal Gold (RGLD[1]): RGLD stock is up 3.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN[2]): BVN stock is up 3.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• New Gold Inc (NGD[3]): NGD stock is up 3.3% today.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE[4]): GPRE stock is up 2.9% today.

• Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM[5]): AEM stock is up 2.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Polypore International Inc (PPO[6]): PPO stock is up 2.8% today.

• Wd-40 Company (WDFC[7]): WDFC stock is up 2.4% today.

• Barrick Gold Corp (ABX[8]): ABX stock is up 2.4% today.

• Pan American Silver (PAAS[9]): PAAS stock is up 2.4% today.

• Hecla Mining Company (HL[10]): HL stock is up 2.3% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• National Steel Corp (SID[11]): SID stock is down 1.3% today.

• Polyone Corp (POL[12]): POL stock is down 0.8%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL[13]): ROLL stock is down 0.7%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Albany International Corp (AIN[14]): AIN stock is down 0.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Minerals Technologies Inc (MTX[15]): MTX stock is down 0.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Stillwater Mining Company (SWC[16]): SWC stock is down 0.5% today.

• Sealed Air Corp (SEE[17]): SEE stock is down 0.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
