Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, was caught making racist remarks in a conversation that was recorded and leaked to news websites.
In a conversation with a woman identified as V. Stiviano, who is thought to be Sterling’s girlfriend, the Clippers owner tells her not to pose with Magic Johnson or invite him to anymore games. The remarks sparked controversy among the basketball community and has many calling for Sterling to be forced out of the NBA, reports USA Today.
Rochelle Sterling, wife of Donald Sterling, said that she doesn’t agree with her husband’s racist remarks. The Clipper owner’s wife is also seeking legal action against V. Stiviano, who she claims is a gold digger that targets older men for gifts and money. Rochelle claims that her husband used community property to buy Stiviano several gifts, including a 2012 Ferrari, The Los Angeles Times notes.
Donald Sterling has been involved in previous cases regarding racism. One such case had the Clippers owner agreeing to a $2.765 million settlement in a 2009 lawsuit regarding racism at an apartment building that he owned, reports USA Today.
