Delta Flight Forced to Make Emergency Landing at JFK

Delta Delta Flight Forced to Make Emergency Landing at JFKOn Wednesday, a Delta Air Lines (DAL) flight ended up at a different New York City airport after the plane experienced a problem.

The Delta jet departed Atlanta around 6:45 p.m. bound for New York’s La Guardia Airport. However, as the plane approached its destination, a warning light in the cockpit alerted the pilots to a problem with the McDonnell Douglas MD-88’s hydraulic system, which includes the brakes. The plane was diverted to the city’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, which has longer runways compared to La Guardia, Reuters notes.

After landing safely, the plane attempted to taxi to the airport gate, but ran off the pavement and came to to rest on a grassy area near the terminal. Delta said that no one was injured in the incident. The plane is being inspected to determine the reason for the problem.

Five crew members and 118 passengers were aboard the Delta flight.

DAL stock dipped slightly in Thursday morning trading. Over the past year, Delta stock has gained more than 140%.
