Infected passengers and crew aboard the Princess Cruises ship have been restricted to quarters in an attempt to halt the spread of the illness. So far, about 66 passengers on the Princess Cruises ship are experiencing symptoms, as well as 17 crew members. The Princess Cruises ship, which is on a 7-day Pacific cruise from Los Angeles, can carry up to 3,000 passengers, CNN notes.

Princess Cruises said that it is communication with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to control the outbreak. The sickness aboard the Princess Cruises ship is believed to be the result of a norovirus infection. Norovirus can result in diarrhea, vomiting and gastric distress. It is highly contagious and has been linked to a number of outbreaks on cruise ships over the past year.

CCL stock slipped slightly in Thursday morning trading. Over the past year, CCL stock has risen more than 10%.
