Flash Boys Movie? Michael Lewis Book May Head to Big Screen

Just weeks after the release of his now hit book “Flash Boys,” Michael Lewis’s intriguing look at high-frequency trading may be heading to the big screen.

Flash Boys 300x246 Flash Boys Movie? Michael Lewis Book May Head to Big ScreenVariety reports that “Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt” — based on Lewis’ book that details Wall Street insiders’ edge over ordinary traders — is close to a deal with Sony Picture (SNE).

The book was praised for its in-depth look at possible Wall Street manipulation and its edge via what’s known as high-frequency trading.

High frequency trading (HFT) takes billions from investors and is used by many big banks and trading firms using computer programs.

The programs send out market orders that search for price imbalances, and is the type of trading that makes up more than half of all market trading in the United States.

Lewis has previously hit the Hollywood stage with book on which the Oscar-winning “The Blind Side” and the Oscar-nominated “Moneyball” were based.

Bloomberg News has since reported that the FBI is looking into whether high-frequency trading represents illegal market manipulation by Wall Street insiders.
