Ford Recall: 435,000 Cars and SUVs Recalled for Rust, Faulty Seats

Rust issues and non-complaint backseat frames led to the recalls

Ford GMOn Monday, Ford (F) issued two recalls covering a number of Ford models.

The first Ford recall affects Escape SUVs with model years between 2001 and 2004. About 385,750 of Escapes in the U.S. and Canada are included in the Ford recall. The vehicles are being recalled due to rust issues in their subframes, which could reduce steering control, Reuters notes.

Roughly 48,950 Fusion, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ vehicles with models years between 2013 and 2014 are affected by the second Ford recall. These vehicles are being recalled over backseat frames that do not properly conform to regulatory standards, raising the danger that passengers could be hurt in accidents.

About 435,000 vehicles are covered by the two Ford recalls.

Despite news of the Ford recalls, F stock climbed modestly in Tuesday morning trading. F stock has gained about 24% over the last year.
