The Foster Farms chicken salmonella outbreak was declared over more than two months ago but it appears as if it’s not over.
43 people have fallen ill to strains of salmonella linked to the company’s poultry. Although the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared the Foster Farms chicken salmonella outbreak over, it persists.
The new cases of salmonella began in late February and ran through March 18. The CDC said that the total number of people affected by the Foster Farms chicken salmonella outbreak has now risen to 524.
The outbreak was first reported last October when the U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a health warning regarding three Foster Farms processing facilities in California.
