George Strait won Entertainer of the Year at the 2014 ACM Awards on Sunday.
George Strait’s win at the ACM Awards marks the second time that the performer has won the Entertainer of the Year award. He won the award for the first time 25 years ago. Strait competed against Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert for the award, reports the Associated Press.
The winner for Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards is determined by fan votes. George Strait mentioned this during his acceptance speech and said that it confirms that he has the best fans in the world. The musician is preparing to retire from touring and also won the same trophy at the Country Music Association Awards in 2013, the Associated Press notes.
“This is so amazing,” Straight told Seattlepi.com. “This has been an amazing past 30 years.”
The 2014 ACM Awards also saw Justin Moore win the New Artist of the Year award.
