Mozilla has named long-time employee Chris Beard as the company’s new CEO.
Beard was the company’s CMO for eight years before leaving in 2013. He accepted an executive-in-residence position at a prestigious Silicon Valley firm called Greylock Partners before making his return to the company as CEO.
Chris Beard has been with the company since it launched Firefox 1.0. He received some rave recommendations from Mozilla’s board of directors who said “he’s guided and directed many of our innovative projects, and his vision and sense of Mozilla is equal to anyone’s.”
“I have relied on his judgement and advice for nearly a decade,” the statement added. “This is an excellent time for Chris to bring his understanding of Mozilla to the Board.”
