A 9-year-old boy from Dallas decided to use the money he saved up for a Sony (SNE) PS4 for a good cause.
Instead of buying the video game console, Hector Montoya used the money he raised to buy smoke detectors. He had the idea after he heard that a mother and her child died in a fire.
Montoya teamed up with the Grand Prairie Fire Department to install 100 new smoke detectors to people who needed them. He had spent a year raising money so he could buy a PS4 but he decided to make a change in the world instead.
Allen, Texas natives Ashton and Peyton Harder were touched by Montoya’s actions and decided to buy him a PS4. They were one of the families who got a smoke a detector so they decided to spend an additional $150 in smoke detectors.
