Hasbro’s (HAS) board game Scrabble is getting a new word added to its dictionary.

scrabble-geocacheThe new word being added to the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary is geocache. For those who don’t know, a geochace is a type of treasure hunt where seekers use a GPS to track down an item. The word will be included in the upcoming fifth version of the game’s dictionary and is immediately available for use, reports ABC News.

Geochace had to compete against 15 other words to be included in the updated Scrabble dictionary. The words weren’t selected by an elite panel of Scrabble enthusiast, but instead came from average players. Suggestions for new words were posted to Hasbro’s Game Night Facebook (FB) page and they were narrowed down to 16 choices. After this, people voted on what word should be added to the game, PC Magazine notes.

The addition of geochace to the Scrabble dictionary marks the first time that fans were able to vote on a new word. It also marks the first addition to the dictionary since 2005, ABC New notes.
