Thermostat Recall: 1 Million Units Recalled for Fire Risk

A massive thermostat recall has been issued due to faulty batteries that can leak and cause a fire.

Thermostat recall[1]Over 1 million thermostats made by White-Rodgers are affected by the thermostat recall. Many of these products were sold by a number of other companies including ComfortSentry, DICO, Maytag (WHR[2]), Frigidaire (ELUXY[3]) and Emerson (EMR[4]).

No injuries have been reported due to the faulty thermostats but there have been seven reports of burn damage to the thermostat. The thermostat recall affects products sold by hardware stores and air conditioning companies between January 2006 and December 2013 for $30 to $70.

The recalled thermostats don’t have a battery icon on the left side of its screen.
