daily apple rumors AAPLMore Confirmation: A report from Naver, a Korean-language news source, says that Apple (AAPL) is gearing up to launch its long-rumored smarwatch by September, GforGamers notes. The report cites unnamed insider sources who claim that Apple has tapped LG as the exclusive producer of the flexible OLED displays for the iWatch. The report reaffirms earlier reports that Apple will offer the iWatch in two screen sizes: a 1.3-inch display and a 1.5-inch display. Apple expects to sell at least 9 million iWatch units, according to Naver. The latest report echoes a number of earlier rumors regarding the iWatch. Last week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a third quarter launch for the iWatch. Kuo said that the iWatch will feature flexible AMOLED displays in two sizes. Other recent reports have suggested that the iWatch would feature screens made by TPK and will be assembled for Apple by Quanta Computer.

Race: It turns out that Apple’s CarPlay will reach the automotive aftermarket even soon than expected, AppleInsider notes. A day after a report said that Japanese car audio system maker Alpine Electronics would add CarPlay compatibility to products launching this fall, Pioneer announced that it will release five NEX in-dash multimedia receivers with CarPlay compatibility this summer. The Pioneer multimedia receivers will feature LCD displays and can be installed in most vehicles. CarPlay allows iPhone users to integrate their handset with their car’s infotainment system, using voice commands to play music, make phone calls and read and reply to text messages. CarPlay also allows iPhone users to receive turn-by-turn navigation through their in-dash systems. Pricing for the CarPlay-compatible Pioneer multimedia receivers will start at $700 and run as high as $1,400.

Gone: Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that David Fincher will not direct Sony (SNE) Pictures’ upcoming film about the life of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Fincher was reportedly asking $10 million to helm the picture as well as requesting a significant level of control over the production. A source connected to the studio called Fincher’s reported compensation demands “ridiculous” given the nature of the film, but said the two sides could restart negotiations. The Sony Pictures film will be based on Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs. It would be the second film about the Apple co-founder. Last year, JOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher in the title role, received a tepid reception at the box office.
