If you love Facebook (FB), we have good news for you: It’s basically coming to Twitter (TWTR).
Twitter announced today via its blog that it is updating the look of its profiles in a way that … well, looks like a Twitter feed shoved into a Facebook page.
The redesigned Twitter profiles will eventually show up to anyone with a web browser. Twitter’s blog says the new profile is rolling out for some users starting today, and eventually will be available to everyone within “the coming weeks.”
The new profile design includes a header photograph that spans the width of the page, with content underneath across three columns, showing followers, Tweets and recommendations. The size and position of the header photo is strikingly similar to Facebook’s layout.
Twitter also is emphasizing a few new changes. From the blog:
Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.
Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about.
Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.
Facebook — which updated its timeline last month — is expected to counter with a 140-character post limit and a new bird logo.
TWTR stock slipped slightly in Tuesday morning trading.
