UberRUSH: Uber Tests Courier Service in NYC

Uber is testing out a new courier service in New York City called UberRUSH.

uberlogo UberRUSH: Uber Tests Courier Service in NYCUberRUSH is a service that allows people to send items to one another for a fee. Businessweek’s Joshua Brustein tested the service and was charged $25 to send a a book, a granola bar, and a dollar bill from East 59th Street and Lexington Avenue to Battery Park City. The delivery took about 90 minutes to complete. Similar services would’ve charged $30 to $46 for the same delivery.

UberRUSH is currently only being tested between 110th Street and Southern Manhattan. The service utilizes pedestrians and bicyclists to make deliveries and charges anywhere from $15 to $30. If the test is successful, Uber may expand it to more areas and cities, Businessweek notes.

UberRUSH currently runs 24 hours a day. However, Uber expects most of its deliveries to be made during daytime hours, TechCrunch notes.
