eBay (EBAY[1]) is considering[2] using Bitcoin as an alternative form of payment through PayPal.
[3]CEO John Donahoe spoke on the subject during a shareholders meeting on Tuesday, saying that the crypto-currency could have a future in PayPal wallets. “In fact, PayPal is pursuing digital payments and is the leading digital payments alternative in many different environments,” Donahoe said.
There are several retailers including Lord & Taylor[4] that are starting to implement Bitcoin as a form of payment in stores. However, adding the digital currency as a form of payment on PayPal could be complicated considering the volatile nature of Bitcoin.
EBAY stock is up about 1.25% Friday.
