Ford is planning to notify the owners of some 2015 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks that software controlling the transmissions of their vehicles is defective. Ford will recall the vehicles so that the software can be updated to correct the problem, Reuters notes.

The Ford recall covers 3,976 Ford F-Series trucks that feature 6.2 liter gasoline or 6.7 liter diesel engines and 6R140 transmissions. The software defect can put the vehicles in reverse for a brief period when the driver is shifting between park and drive. Ford is expected to recall the vehicles in May. The software upgrade will be performed without charge.

Almost all of the trucks affected by the Ford recall were sold in the U.S. No accidents have been linked to the software problem.

Ford discovered the problem in March, according to paperwork filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In Monday morning trading, F stock fell about 1%.
