Basic materials stocks finished flat on Wednesday on Wall Street.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, the Nasdaq declined 0.3% and the S&P 500 stayed the same.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE[1]): GPRE stock is up 2.3% today.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM[2]): SIM stock is up 2.0% today.

• Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR[3]): FBR stock is up 1.2% today.

• Cytec Industries Inc (CYT[4]): CYT stock is up 1.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Plum Creek Timber Company (PCL[5]): PCL stock is up 0.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Cvr Partners LP Common Units R (UAN[6]): UAN stock is up 0.9% today.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK[7]): BAK stock is up 0.7% today.

• Weyerhaeuser Company (WY[8]): WY stock is up 0.7%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB[9]): GGB stock is up 0.6% today.

• A. Schulman (SHLM[10]): SHLM stock is up 0.6%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Gold Fields Ltd (GFI[11]): GFI stock is down 3.0% today.

• Commercial Metals Company (CMC[12]): CMC stock is down 2.4% today.

• Steel Dynamics (STLD[13]): STLD stock is down 2.2% today.

• Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW[18]): SLW stock is down 1.9%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Berry Plastics Group Inc (BERY[19]): BERY stock is down 1.8% today.
